16% – It’s worth the trip!

August 12, 2026. If you’ve ever seen a total solar eclipse, today wasn’t it. But 16% is better than nothing. Beautiful weather for a quick jaunt to the Petersham town common with solar viewing glasses and my 8″ aperture telescope. Right up the street? Sure, it was still worth the trip.

Sunspots on the photosphere of the sun are visible as well as a rough edge along the arc of the moons shadow, which implies the roughness of mountain ranges on the moon.
